The Patrol Division of the Greene County Sheriff's Department consists of thirty-six uniformed officers that are assigned to routine patrol. A Patrol Captain supervises the division that consists of four shifts. There are nine officers assigned to each shift. Each shift has a Lieutenant, a Sergeant and works a twelve-hour shift. Scattered among the different shifts are members of the Greene County Special Response Team (SRT) and members of the Methamphetamine Task Force as well as a K-9 officer.
Greene County has 615 square miles and 1210 miles of roadways in Greene County that the Patrol Division covers. Some of the Patrol Division duties consist of answering complaints, responding to emergency situations and traffic accidents. The Patrol Division is responsible for enforcing the laws and maintaining the peace on a twenty-four hour seven days a week basis in Greene County.
