Cause of Death: Airplane crash
Date of Incident: July 11, 1994

On July 11, 1994, the Greene County Sheriff's Department received a complaint from local citizens in the Debusk area of a person calling out for help. It was reported that the distress call was coming from a heavily wooded area. Patrol officers along with EMS personnel and the Rescue Squad were dispatched to the area and an extensive search was begun. Auxiliary Deputy Desormeaux was an experienced pilot and after hearing the situation on a scanner, he contacted Deputy Willie Ward and the two of them met at the airport where Desormeaux rented a small engine plane to assist in the search. Once over the search site Desormeaux contacted officers on the ground via portable radio and offered his assistance. During his reconnaissance of the area, Desormeaux encountered turbulence which when making a sharp bank to one side drove the plane into the ground killing both Desormeaux and Ward on impact.
